Bratislava Connected to Istanbul with Direct Flights for the First Time

Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport (ISG) is diversifying the travel experience from Istanbul to Europe with new routes. Pegasus Airlines, one of ISG’s strong business partners, has launched new international flights from Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen to Bratislava (BTS), the capital of Slovakia, for the first time as of May 15th. This new route is the 6th new international route that Pegasus Airlines has launched in 2024, following Zagreb (ZAG) in Croatia, Sphinx (SPX) in Egypt, Aktau (SCO) in Kazakhstan, Sofia (SOF) in Bulgaria and Chişinău (RMO) in Moldova.

Flights between Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen (SAW) and Bratislava (BTS) will be operated twice a week, on Wednesdays and Sundays.

Having completed the year 2023 with an all-time passenger traffic record, Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport is diversifying the travel experience from Istanbul to many cities in the world with new routes added one after another. With its easy transportation facilities, it is now very easy to travel from Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen, the "city airport", to the heart of Central Europe.

Bratislava, located on the banks of the Danube and Morava rivers, is the only capital city bordering two sovereign states, Austria and Hungary. It brings together many cultural, historical and religious traces, including Austrian, Bulgarian, Croatian, Czech, German, Hungarian and Jewish. The narrow streets, colorful buildings and Gothic-style churches in the old town are among the must-see places that carry the past to the present. The famous Bratislava Castle, which dominates the city’s skyline, is one of the most important symbols of the city with its magnificent panoramic view.

Bratislava, which resembles Istanbul with its natural beauties, historical richness especially in the Middle Ages, cultural diversity and modern atmosphere, also offers access to different destinations.

New Route Will Bring 23,000 International Passengers

This new route is expected to bring an additional 23,000 international passengers to Sabiha Gökçen in the remaining months of the year. Thus, Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport will serve 40 domestic and 124 international destinations in 53 countries, and will be strongly connected to 164 destinations in total. Sabiha Gökçen continues to increase its passenger numbers regularly since the early months of 2024.

"Our European Connections Are Getting Stronger"

ISG CEO Serhat Soğukpınar said, "As Sabiha Gökçen Airport, we are increasing the travel experience by connecting our beloved Istanbul to another rooted city in Europe with this new route opened at the beginning of the tourist season. We are continuing our efforts to provide comfort and convenience to our guests who will travel from both Istanbul to Bratislava and from Bratislava to Istanbul. This route to Bratislava, which is considered the heart of Europe, is one of the collaborations that we consider important in strengthening ISG’s European connections. We wish it to be beneficial to our country."
